Create network access schedules and enable Safe Search

The parental control feature allows you to control when each client device connected to the local network of Synology Router can access the Internet.

For example,

if your kids' computers or mobile devices connect to the Internet through Synology Router, then you can restrict their Internet usage according to specific devices and time periods.

Go to Network Center > Parental Control to manage the Internet access schedule for connected devices.

Set network access schedule for connected devices

You can add devices on this page and set the time periods when they are allowed to access the Internet.

To add a device and set its network access schedule:

Click the Add button.

Specify the Device Name and MAC Address of your device.

In the schedule section, determine when the device is allowed to access the Internet by selecting cells on the grid.

You can select an entire day by clicking on a day and a specific time by clicking on the hour.

Enable Safe Search for connected devices

You can click the shield icon to enable the Safe Search function for a certain device. Once Safe Search is enabled, inappropriate websites, such as those containing violence or adult content, will not appear in Google's and YouTube's search results when using this device.

Although Safe Search cannot guarantee to block all inappropriate websites to 100%, you can always edit the block list whenever needed by selecting the website categories that you want to block, or adding the URL of a specific website to the block list.

 

Set up default policy regarding network access schedule and Safe Search function

You can click Edit Default Policy to set up default policy regarding network access schedule and Safe Search function.

Any devices without customized policies will adopt the default policy when connected to your Synology Router.
